Destination: Lhasa / Lhoka / Namtso Lake
Day 1: Welcome to Tibet!
…our tour guide will pick you up at your arrival point – either the airport or
the train station – and then take you to your accommodation, where you may take
a rest to adjust to the altitude and relax.
Day 2: In the morning, start your explorations by visiting Sera monastery: Sera
Monastery, founded in 1419, is one of the ‘great three’ university monasteries
of Tibet,
to witness the “Monk Debates” on the teachings of Buddha and the philosophy of
Buddhism. Then, in the afternoon, after lunch, you can visit Drepung Monastery. Then visit Norbulingka, literally: “The Jewelled Park”,
a palace and surrounding park, which served as the traditional summer residence
of the successive Dalai Lamas.
Day 3: You can visit Jokhang Temple,
Barkhor Market Street and the Potola Palace, and then In the evening stay in Lhasa city to relax. The
Jokhang temple was constructed by King Songtsän Gampo probably in 642. The
famous Buddhist Master Atisha taught here in the 11th century and it has been
considered the most important temple in Lhasa ever since, remaining a key
centre of Buddhist pilgrimage for centuries.
Day 4: Drive from Lhasa
to Lhoka to visit Yongbo Lhakang , an
ancient palace in the Yarlung Valley – according to legend the
first building in Tibet and the palace of the first Tibetan king, and then directly on to Datuk monastery, inside the gate of which
hangs a three- ton bell. Then return to stay overnight inLhasa city.
Day 5: Travel from Lhasa to Namtso
Lake. Namtso Lake is the highest salt lake in the world, and
largest salt lake in Tibet.
Namtso is renowned as one of the most beautiful places in the Nyainqêntanglha
mountain range. Its cave hermitages have for centuries been the destination of
Tibetan pilgrims. You will return toLhasa at 6-7:00pm, then can relax inLhasa city.
Day 6: We will take you
to Lhasa
airport or train station to say goodbye.
